Joel's Thoughts

My thoughts on life, Christianity, pop culture and dealing with breast cancer... but not necessarily in that order.

Your Best Hurricane Now

Greg Kendall-Ball has a pretty compelling post on his blog concerning Joel Osteen and Lakewood Church. As you may remember, Lakewood purchased the former Comaq Center in Houston where the Rockets used to play. The purchase and conversion of the stadium cost the church $95 million. The sactuary officially opened with great fanfare a couple of months ago. Now some are suggesting that Osteen open up the sanctuary to serve as a shelter for storm refugees. Before I point the finger at Lakewood perhaps I need to look at myslf. Would I be willing to take a family into my home? Or would I be too worried about my guests muddying up the carpet? I hope Osteen decides to use hs new building as a ministry tool instead of a trophy. It would be a compelling witnessto the city of Houston and the world.

Hi,
Thanks for the link! I still haven't heard back from Bro. Osteen, and I doubt I will.

How crazy it is to find a link to my blog from someone in Jackson, TN. I was born almost 27 years ago in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, attended Jackson Christian School and snuck the post-church communion with Ralph Gilmore's daughter at the Campbell street church.

The blog world is a curious thing...even more so when churches and so on are involved.

Thanks for stopping by, and for not being too offended by my flippant remarks to Joel. I like to stir things up every now and then :D
